Weiming Ryan Yan, MD. Ph.D., is proud to provide comprehensive gastroenterology care for patients at Frederick Gastroenterology Associates in Frederick and Urbana, Maryland.  

Dr. Yan has a strong academic background in molecular biology and medicine. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Florida, where he researched the molecular biology of photoreceptors. He has published several research articles and presented at national meetings. He then obtained his medical degree at Ohio State University and completed his internship and residency training at Georgetown University. He further specialized in gastroenterology and hepatology at West Virginia University.

Dr. Yan has a wide range of clinical interests, including acid reflux, colorectal cancer and esophageal cancer prevention, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver diseases. He strives to provide personalized care by understanding each patient’s health journey and educating them about their condition and treatment options. He also makes sure to answer any questions or concerns that patients may have.

Dr. Yan speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese, which allows him to communicate with a diverse population of patients. He is also actively involved in his community, volunteering at a local charity clinic to provide care for uninsured patients. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, watching football with his family, and playing with his dog.
